Agape Food Bank Ministry

We live in the beautiful expatriate retirement community of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.  Yet there are poor around us. Some Mexicans here have no running water or electricity.  Single mothers struggle to make ends meet.  Not all families can afford school uniforms so children are sometimes unable to receive an education.  We deliver food to a lady who has limited mobility due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.  A senior lady has kidney failure and receives daily peritoneal dialysis.  Help is needed for these and many others.

Jesus said, "The poor will always be with you" (Matt. 26:11). San Carlos is no exception.

Agape Food Bank Ministry began in March 2018.  We have drop-off locations in San Carlos for non-perishable foods at the Athletic Club,  American Dental and Soya de Guaymas.  As a church we pick up these donations, sort them, box them and then personally deliver them to the homes of needy families that are referred to us.  A local orphanage will also receive food hampers  to help them feed the children in their care.  We also accept financial donations which are used only to purchase food for the food hampers.  In Mexico, the government has scant social service programs. The vast majority of social service assistance is provided by non-profit organizations.

We are very grateful to the many citizens of San Carlos who support Agape Food Bank in our desire to help the poor.  We also thank Mark Mulligan (www.markmulligan.net) for promoting us at his concerts in San Carlos. Plus, the Comisario for San Carlos, Enrique Gámez, wholeheartedly supports the ministry of Agape Food Bank.  With us all working together we can make a difference!

The recipients of our food hampers are very grateful for the generosity of the many good people in our community!  God bless you each one for giving from your hearts!

You can be involved and Help Us Serve.
